Ascot Perth, 3rd May 2022

Started the morning off with another long walk from the house along the banks of the Swan River going in the opposite direction from yesterday. Another perfect sunny day. Overnight the temperature goes down to about 9 degrees but soon warms up quickly in the morning up to around 25 deg. At midday our host is dropping us off to pick up our rental car. We will be off after that starting our buzzing around the Perth area. Watch this space……

Later…..Picked up our rental and now driving along the waterside of the Swan River into the central city of Perth. Note in my pictures how tidy all the lawns are and so clean, so impressed with this city after the way Auckland has gone with unkept properties and  lawns not like the good old times.

The Crawley Edge Boatshed commonly referred to as the  Blue Boat House, located on the banks of the Swan River at Matilda Bay in Crawley near the city of Perth. It was built in 1930s and now a wedding photo hotspot known as the most photographed attraction in Perth. Very popular with the Asians tourists as waiting to snap the perfect selfie. By 2001  the boatshed had become very run down and the government threatened to demolish and remove it. It was put up for sale and a family purchased it and began to rebuild the old shed

The street that runs up the hill opposite The Blue Boathouse.  This is what I mean by the immaculately manicured residential gardens  around the city of Perth.

Same road looking down the hill to The Blue Boat House.

    More beautiful streets

We are now across the Swan River opposite the city. Some massive street art by the river.

At one of the parks across the river looking back at the city.

Where the ferry boats come from the city across the river.

The Bell Tower which houses the Swan Bells in its 85.5 metre high tower in Barrock Square. Observation deck at the top of the tower to see 360 degree views of the Swan River and the CBD. It’s also available for corporate events functions and weddings. I couldn’t talk PT into climbing to the top.

Now down at Elizabeth Quay a new waterfront precinct on the banks of the Swan River in downtown Perth. Here you will find public artwork promenades open spaces and a range of bars and restaurants.

We walked from one side of the bridge around the square, across the bridge and back to where we started from. What a wonderful area.

On the middle of the bridge looking back to the city.

PTs new friend

Perth has changed a lot since we were here about twenty two years ago so many new high rises and developments. Hardly recognised the place. Lovely city.
