Auckland to Perth 1st May2022

We are finally on our way. We were picked up from home at 9.15am arriving at the airport at 10.00am..  Plenty of time not very busy, quick check in, purchased some duty free for pick up on our return home then up to the lounge by 10.30am. Had a bite to eat relaxed for a couple of hours then boarded our flight just after 12.00 NZ175 -787 Boeing.  We had a 20 minute delay waiting for a connection of 40 people. Finally in the air and the captain announced he would be making up the time as there were no strong westerlies. I am writing this on board and we have 2-3/4 hours to go to Perth. Looks like we will now be arriving 15mins early. Our hosts, where we are staying for a week, not far from the airport will be picking us up. When we leave their place to pick up the motorhome on the 9th May they will drop us off. 

We will hire a rental car for 3 or 4 days during this week to have a better look around the outskirts of Perth as many years ago we had a week in the City so have seen that pretty thoroughly. PT wants to catch up with an old mate from Whangarei days who lives a couple of hours south of Perth so we will drive down there for a days trip. PT is trying to have a sleep and he has a screaming kid next to him. She has been good most of the way but now has had enough. 2-1/2 hours until we land. Kids happy now she has her iPad. She isn’t much older than one. It’s being a great flight very quiet plane but being ahead of the engines we can’t even hear them, just the noise of the air conditioning. Two hours before landing.

We have now arrived at our BnB called Ascot on Swan BnB close to the airport and the Swan river.

It’s only 7.30pm here but as we are four hours ahead of WA we are really wilting and ready for bed (NZ time  11.30pm ) a long day. When we arrived here it wasn’t too far off dark so couldnt get photos of where we are staying. Tomorrow we will get a bus into the nearest town and sort out our Oz SIM card. I have taken my SIM out of my phone so I now can’t be contacted by phone or text. Sorry no time for photos today so just a catch up to let you know how the day went.
