Got away this morning by 8.00am. Woke up to a beautiful sunny day not a cloud in the sky. Not a big driving day, arriving in Tom Price about 11.00am which is just outside the Karijini National Park. Went to the information centre to see if the Hamersley Gorge tour was still going ahead tomorrow afternoon. As I write the road out there is closed due to all the rain. This is a 4WD tour which we would like to take. Everything else in the Park we can drive to ourselves. It was going to be doubtful after all the rain they have had in the Karijini National Park area over the last week. We won’t know until tomorrow morning if the road will be opened up. 🤞🤞

Cheela Plains -to - Tom Price , 24th May, 2022 - 175kms
This is us leaving the Cheela Plains Station camping site this morning. The road into them 900m is still very wet. I would say it’s going to take a few days to dry out.
These are Rock trucks that the cattle station have been sold to a Japanese company. They were meant to have been shipped to Japan’s prior to the first of January this year but are yet to leave the site. Was not quite sure what the company used them for but up close they are massive vehicles.
Just leaving. Passing through the gates of the Station. Great place to say way in the middle of nowhere. Makes a change for a bit of fun. We enjoyed our stay. Look at the skies today. 😎
Our drive along the way.
This road we have just passed is the short cut in into Tom Price but its still a metal road. It is closed at the moment due to the wet weather over the week. Looks like this Truckee thought he could get through but guess what, yes he got stuck.
Now we are getting into the hilly country.
We have been slowly climbing up and down over the hills. Our destination at Tom Price is 800m above sea level and the camp proprietor informs us that it could be quite cool tonight.
Now have arrived in Tom Price looking up at the hills behind the town. Even the puddles are a diluted colour of the rock and the earth.
Now settled in camp waiting for the phone call tomorrow waiting to hear if the road is opening for our afternoon tour. If we go we will stay at this camp again tomorrow night. If we don’t go we will continue over to the Karijini National Park to another camp for two nights. If we go on the tour we will just get one night in the park.
HAVE POSTED YESTERDAYS AND TODAYS POSTS TONIGHT, SO GO BACK A DAY TO CATCH UP.
This is due to no data connection all day yesterday.
