Not a lot happened today just a big driving day again to get through the big distances through the Kimberley’s. Left at 7.00am after a another rain storm went through over night but much clearer this morning when we left. Heading through Fitzroy Crossing, stopped there to pick up a coffee only and got out of there quickly. Then into a Cattle Station to stay the night, called Larrawa Station. These places are a popular place for campers to stop. This one was about 5kms off the main highway down a very good unsealed red road with iron ore foundations. I even had the Cattle Station cook dinner and delivered to us. Unfortunately we didn’t really get the opportunity to talk to the guy much. It would have been good to learn more about his station. There would be about 24 other caravans in here. Very pleasant, quiet and peaceful. We went for a walk across the fields with the cattle and heaps of birds swirling at each other. There is a river running through the property. We started out on a walk to go and see it but realised the sun was going down quickly as it does over here. So we turned around across the fields to our camping spot for the night. Heading up to the Purnululu National Park tomorrow to see the Bungle Bungles. 🤞 the rain will stay away.
Ss you can see the rain came after starting off fine. A few roadworks going on and we had a couple of long waits as only half the road was open. Each time we had to wait for a photo truck to escort through on the single lane. It actually took a lot of time out of our journey.
Stopped to fill up at a Roadhouse and this big four trailer road train pulled in. How many of the Brandie’s would like to drive one of these. That includes you Tayla as a lot of these big rigs are driven by women. In this one a tiny lady hopped out going around scraping mud of her wheels. Fills up and off she went.
.
Crossing over this part dried up river but this one still has water flowing down it.This is the left bank.
The middle. Two wide to gat it all in one photo.
This the right bank
As not a lot happing today making driving just adding some more change and colours of the scenery today.
Has cleared up again no more rain for the day.
Still changing along the way.
We have now come across some hills. A change from all the flat areas.
We are now back into the iron ore rocky hills
Close up of the side of the above hill.
Arrived at the Larrawa Station to camp for the night.
We picked our spot to settle in.
Sitting in the back of the van watching the other campers settle in.
Watching out of the back window so peaceful and quiet.
Other campers arriving.
Off for a walk down to the river through the cattle fields
They even had a termites house in the paddocks.
As the sun was going down very quickly PT decided we better turn around and get back to camp so didn’t get to see the river.
We are just arriving back to camp and as you can see the sun has gone down very quickly.
A small sunset, to add to this peaceful evening.
