Left the house at 9.00am going north to a different area on the outskirts of Perth as below. Big day returning at 3.00pm. Driving most to the time stopping to take in the view and a few short walks. Mainly went to the waterfalls in the area but unfortunately being summer not a lot of water. In fact I should say just a dribble of water. What I have done I have found an existing photo taken in the wet season to compare.
This is the machine we have hired for a few days to get around in until we pick up the motorhome. It goes really well and very comfortable for a little car.
Our first stop was Guildford only about six minutes north from where we are staying. The above is an old Hotel
Craft shop on the left and on the corner a Post Office
We are now driving through the Swan Valley vineyard country. WA’s oldest wine growing region 25 minutes from Perth
Further on up in the hills we have arrived at Noble Falls. If you can see the little trickle coming over the rocks.
This is what it looks like in the wetter season as a comparison.
Pretty to walk around in this area.
Coming back down from the hills, behind the Avon Valley area we went to Bell Rapids. Another lovely area for walking and a lot of boulder hopping. Crossing across the walking bridge looking down over the rapids. Again just a trickle. Bells Rapids is a series of streams and waterfalls that make up part of the Avon River. It’s located 45 minutes northwest of Perth.
Still from the bridge looking further along.
Now have walked from boulder to boulder to stand out looking back to the bridge.
Now leaving the area across the bridge.
Looking back while walking up the hill back to the car.
This photo shows what the Bell Rapids look like in the wet season.
Just leaving the Bell Rapids we stopped, looking further down the river.
We now drove back past our BnB and went further south up into the Perth Hills. Now at the top of the hills looking back over to Perth City.
Up in the Perth hills we walked down to the Lesmurdie Falls. Very little water, just if you look close.
In the wet season water flows over these rocks down into the valley below. We are standing on a platform looking over the area.
This is a photo taken
to show what it would be like in the wet season
Walked further down some steps to get the side on view of the falls 🤔Dry as a bone.
After a full days driving visiting all the above places we were feeling pretty tired so headed back to base .
Looks like they have had a long hot dry summer
