Ascot Perth - 7th and 8th May

7th MAY

Handed the car back yesterday so we walked everywhere today. Covered over 7kms on foot. In the morning went for our last walk down to the park to walk along the river bank. Another beautiful day warmed up again after a few days of cool winds. Rather than sit inside all afternoon would you believe it we walked down to the domestic airport and watched the planes coming and going. Not that they were very busy. It’s only less than a twenty min walk down there. Sat there for awhile then walked back to the house.

Got down to the river’s edge just to see the kids washing down their canoes and putting them away. We must have just missed them racing.

The path took us a little away from the river bank through trees over a swampy area hence the bridge.

Continue onto another bridge that crosses over a stream running into the river. There’s that old man again!!

Looking over to one of the many other traffic bridges that cross over the Swan. We continued on walking through tracks, parks and back streets to get back to base for lunch. Interesting walking along the back residential streets looking at all the different houses, gardens etc. then after lunch as I said above walked down to the airport.

8th. MAY

Last day at Ascot on Swan BnB in Perth. We got a day pass on the bus to use as we please. Had to go back to Midlands, a shopping area we have been using to sort out a few more phone problems. After that, got the bus back into Perth and sat by the river and soaked up the atmosphere for the last time. The whole week has been perfect weather but looks like a few wet days ahead of us as we move further up the coast tomorrow. Cross fingers 🤞we don’t get too many wet days. It’s been great to have this week in Perth such a beautiful clean city. It’s in a beautiful position, sitting on the banks of the Swan River. The city is about 20/25 kms  inland, not on the coast as some people think.

Sitting on the banks of the Swan River downtown Perth  before we leave tomorrow.

Our hosts asked us in for a BBQ for our last night. We were sitting around this fire pit before dinner then turned the chairs round to the table to eat. Note the fantastic set up behind us, full out door kitchen, fridge, BBQ, sink, and dishwasher. This is their outside patio all fenced off to make a complete little yard out from the house. Unfortunately too dark, not enough lighting. I should have taken it earlier but it will give you the idea.

We had a lovely time very nice people. They are going to drop us off at the Apollo motorhome pick up area tomorrow at 9.00am. At last our time has come to get going on the road for our 43day trip to Darwin.

In all we have walked 37kms during our week around Perth city and the outskirts.
