Denham - 15th May 2022

This morning we tried to organise a 4 wheel drive tour through the Francois Peron National Park up to Cape Peron but unfortunately there were no tours available. This area is just north of the camp ground. So we took of to a well known resort / caravan park over the eastern side of the peninsular called Monkey Mia . At one staged we thought we would have one night there and two nights at Denham but decided in the three at Denham and just driving over and spending a few hours at Monkey Mia. This place is famous for the dolphins that come into their bay for feeding in the mornings at 8am which is a big attraction. We didn’t especially go up for the feeding times as it was late morning when we arrived but luckily the dolphins were still swimming around the bay. So we spent some time just watching them. Then we wandered around the resort and went back to camp and rang around to try and find a tour for tomorrow. As there were none operating for the National Park we found a boat trip which takes us over to a very big island called Dirk Hartog Island which do half day tours. They take us ashore then drive us around stopping at different places . As it was the only tour operating we thought that we couldn’t come all this way without getting further a field. So you will hear all about that tomorrow.

Woke up to another beautiful morning looking over the back of our site just as the sun was coming over. Camp still
in shade and sun is just catching the boats.

Walking along below our site to show how high up we are to the next level.  This is how the place is all terraced down until you get to the beach level. There is also one level above us .

I have no idea what this tree is call but just fascinated me the way it was all bushy on top and little branches coming out of the trunk. 🤔

Now at the Monkey Mia Resort. Hotel accomodation along this part of the beach then around the corner of the beach is the camping section. A lovely spot but I feel a bit over rated. But it was pleasant to go and visit and as I said watch the dolphins playing around in the bay not even being fed at that time. Feeding time was over.

We were standing on the wharf and they were just swimming around for ages.

A sculpture of the dolphins in the hotel grounds.

A few Emus  wandering around. We often see them in the wild  near the highways

Tonight’s sunset. I believe they get better as we go north.

Not a big day today but just nice pottering around. We are looking forward to our tour tomorrow.

Done forget to click on the photos to make them bigger and brighter especially if you are looking on a cell phone.
