We have now arrived at Kalbarri Red Bluff Tourist Park. An extremely nice place. Every site has its own separate utility room with shower, toilet and vanity. I will send photos in tomorrows blog. We are staying here for two nights as there is so much to see in this area. The good weather has broken and the rain came in yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately for us the Pink Lake is a much deeper pink when the sun is out so we missed out on that by one day, as it was their first wet day. We had rain over night and most of today. We still managed to get photos of some of the sights over the Kalbarri cliff tops. We managed to see three sights but we were hoping to see at least six but the rain came down heavy so decided to give it a miss and will go back and see the rest tomorrow. We are also going up to the Kalbarri National Park where there are some great sights to see. Hope the weather improves for my photos. Not looking too positive at the moment. Also we haven’t mention the fly issue. Not too bad at this stage but we understand it gets worst as we head north. We are well versed in the Aussie Salute already. We have been told that the kangaroos come around at night but haven’t seen any yet. We hear noises which could be them. Tayla I saw a photo of you today reading my blog. Well done that makes me happy.
Just arriving at Kalbarri. At this stage it was looking as though the rain was coming down from the north. Before you approach Kalbarri there are several side roads taking you down to the cliff tops for some great views. As I said we only did three of them as the rain had started, so out came our rain gear and we were taking all these cliff top photos in the rain. After three sites the rain decided to come down very heavy. We sat in the van had a coffee and waited for awhile but decided to call it quits and continue on into the township of Kalbarri. We were about one and half hours to early to check into camp so went down by the river and made some lunch.
These outlooks all have names. This is called Island Rock. As you can see this piece of rock that has separated from the cliff face over probably millions of years to form an island. Note also the strata formations match on the island as on the mainland.
This one is called Natural bridge which the cliffs too would have been eaten away from the strong seas of the Indian Ocean.
They called this Grandstand. Looks a bit like one. The winds and seas can be very powerful down this Western Australian coast.
Shell house, not sure why it got this name.
Hey PJ's I finally managed to log in from the work computer. I have been able to see all your amazing photos and blogs but just wasn't able to post a comment. Have no idea why! Some of the scenery and photos are amazing! You don't realise just how much Aussie has to offer from a tourism perspective especially given its Perth to Darwin!. Way more impressive than I expected. Loved the rusty ironwork arts along the way and the termite mounds ( lol). Hopefully this comment wont be a one off but both Pat and I have been enjoying the trip. Its like being in the back of the camper!
ReplyDeleteI have only just pick this message up not sure how I missed it as I have been going back checking. I love getting your comments and you are most welcome to come along and be in the back of the camper.😂
