Darwin City - Magnum Serviced Apartments, 20th June, 2022.

Well we have today handed back our motorhome after 43days on our Road trip from Perth to Darwin. We covered just short of 7,000kms and spent $1,775.00 on diesel. The last two days we have been staying at a caravan park just out of the city. This gave us chance to pack up and give the van a good clean and wash before we handed it back to Apollo. Arrived at Magnum Serviced Apartments at midday as we were lucky to get an early check in. Big day getting everything done and organised so didn’t have time to explore Darwin today. Just settled in and finished off with a swim on the rooftop. We still have three full days to see the area.

Lounge, kitchen in our one bedroom apartment. Such luxury and space after our small enclosed way of life. Very nice modern units.

Looking back through the unit.
You can see the open room in the below photo.

This an unusual room just off the main living area all open, no door. Had two chairs and a desk, like an office area.

Had a swim in the rooftop pool. That woke us up after our very busy day sorting everything out.

These last three photos taken up on the roof looking over Darwin City from the roof top pool area.

It looked like the weather could be packing up. It could have been raining in the distance.  We haven’t seen clouds for days now just blue skies. Still about 32degs.

Lots to learn about the history of Darwin, with the bombing over the harbour in WW11 and the start of the Royal Flying Doctors Service. It’s not a big city, very quiet to what we are used to. We will have one of the days doing the hop on hop off bus around the area which includes the Military Museum- Defence of Darwin Experience. And of course  their famous  Mindil Beach Sunset markets on Thursdays and Sundays between 4.00pm - 9.00pm. Just hope the rain stays away. 🤞

We have also just finished our traveller declaration passes to return to NZ. Bit of a performance, took about hour to fill out everything. Then it had a few hiccups but we have got it sorted and completed, so looks like we will be allowed to come home!! As from to tonight we don’t have to have RATS tests before we leave to get back home. We feel there was some luck for us when Jacinda announced that. So should get onto the plane in the early hours of the 24th (1.15am) long as we are feeling well. 🤞🤞
