Lake Argyle - to - Timber Creek, 227kms, - 8th June, 2022

Left Lake Argyle early this morning to drive to Timber Creek a half way sleep over stop on our way to Katherine tomorrow. The camp was in behind the Hotel. A very nice quiet spot mature trees and lots of green grass with the Victoria River  behind us. More like a stream than a river. Restaurant and Petrol and that’s about all in this area. And forgot a police station and a few houses. Better than what you get in these Roadhouses.  So immaculately clean and tidy. Not long after we left Lake Argyle we crossed over the border to the Northern Territory. Gosh what a difference to the road surface, shocking after the well maintained Western Australia roads. We bumped and bounced all the way and by the time we got to Timber Creek I felt like I had been travelling all day. I still can’t believe the contrast like going through a different country. And also the speed limit went from 110 to 130kph. I guess we were really spoilt with the WA roads. You could just keep driving and not feel tired. Just hope they are not going to be like this all the way. I will come home with rattling bones instead of creaking ones.

This fellow was in the middle of the road just looking at us as we passed.

Arrived at the Hotel Camp and had the afternoon to relax. Beautiful grounds and very peaceful. This is one of those Boab trees. Seeing quite a few since we left Derby. We will be seeing more of this green grass and lush growth in this Territory.

The Victoria River (stream) running behind the Hotel, They have fresh water crocodile’s in there but didn’t see any.

Footbridge to cross over to do more walks but we didn’t do that today. Had enough walking over the last few days. Temperature more bearable today as the wind was up a little.

The trees over the water are full of bates making so much noise but a pleasant noise didn’t bother us.

Well that’s that for today nothing doing just the first leg to getting from A to B.
